The experience requirements vary by position. Some roles require specific professional skills or experience, while others are open to beginners with the right attitude and commitment. All volunteers receive training before starting their assignments.
For international field assignments, volunteers are typically responsible for travel costs to and from the assignment location. We provide accommodation, insurance, and a modest stipend for living expenses during the assignment. Remote volunteers have no associated costs.
Assignment durations vary from 2 weeks to 12 months, depending on the project and role. We also offer flexible remote volunteer opportunities and ongoing local chapter involvement that can fit around your schedule.
Most of our programs require volunteers to be at least 18 years old. However, we do have some youth volunteer programs for ages 16-17 with parental consent, and local chapter activities that may be open to younger participants.
